Take 20 Minutes Each Day To Read Through God's Word In 2023!
Join us as we “Take 20" minutes a day (or so) to read through the Bible in one year!
For 2023, we will be reading through the Bible using the plan designed by the 19th Century Scottish minister, Robert Murray M'Cheyne, who lived from 1813-1843.
In its original formulation, his reading plan took his church through the Old Testament once and the New Testament and Psalms twice per year. This means reading about four chapters a day, taken from different parts of the Bible.
Originally, M'Cheyne made a calendar with two columns labeled "Family" and two labeled "Secret." He intended that the Scripture listings in the "Family" columns be read in family devotions, and those in the "Secret" columns be read privately, in personal devotions. If you would like to read through the Bible in this fashion using our calendar, the first and third columns are his "Family" readings, while the second and fourth columns are his "Secret" readings.
To help you understand more of what you read, an excellent daily devotional that follows M'Cheyne's plan is also available through the calendar below. Just click on the readings for today, and follow the link to the "Read The Bible" Devotional page on the website of The Gospel Coalition. These devotions were written by D. A. Carson, and are available in print as well in two volumes entitled: For the Love of God: A Daily Companion for Discovering the Riches of God's Word.
We trust that the Lord will bless the reading of His Word to your heart this year, more than ever before, as you “let the word of Christ dwell in you richly!” (Colossians 3:16)
